AIR FORCE NUCLEAR WEAPONS CENTER MINUTEMAN III

PROBLEM

The Minuteman intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system, first envisioned in the late 1950s, was a revolutionary weapon system developed in the early stages of the Cold War’s nuclear arms race. Over the years, the weapon system has continued to evolve through system and site maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements into what is now the Minuteman III (MMIII) ICBM.

SOLUTION

Sabel Systems configured and implemented a digital engineering solution for MMIII so they can virtually manage product-related data in support of their nuclear-deterrent mission until the system is replaced by a modernized, ICBM weapon system.

RESULTS

The digital engineering environment facilitates:

  • the orderly and secure capture, exchange and display of product data
  • change management of that data
  • workflow facilitation
  • reporting and analytics
  • product design and collaboration

This provides the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center with contextually-rich, linked, and accurate data in a highly interoperable environment, greatly improving the speed and quality of all product management activities.
